Dr Rebecca Wilcoxson
Psychology Lecturer
CQUniversity
Dr Rebecca Wilcoxson is a Psychology Lecturer at CQUniversity, where she has worked for ten years. She holds an Honours degree in Psychology and a PhD in Forensic Psychology, with her doctoral research focused on lie detection and the risks of introducing unvalidated technologies into legal systems. In 2023, Rebecca joined the volunteer board of Family Emergency Accommodation Townsville (FEAT), sparking her interest in the intersection of domestic and family violence (DFV) and homelessness. She is lead author of the 2025 article Domestic Violence Risk Assessment Tools and Australian Homelessness Services: A Scoping Review published in Australian Social Work, which highlights gaps in DFV risk assessment tools and culturally appropriate approaches for First Nations clients. Rebecca is now collaborating with co-author Mandy Thompson, FEAT, and other Australian and international researchers to explore homelessness staff experiences supporting clients affected by DFV, aiming to improve screening, safety planning, and culturally responsive practices.
