Mandy Thompson has diverse community and public services experience across the Queensland community. She holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons) First Class, Bachelor of Community Welfare, and a Diploma of Management. Mandy has held a range of practice and leadership roles over the past 35 years in domestic and family violence, child protection, family support, housing, homelessness and academic settings. She was elected as the Queensland Parliament’s Member for Townsville in 2009. Mandy has both parliamentary and community board experience and is interested in research into systems and legislative reforms that will improve public safety in both community and online forums. Mandy is second author in a recently published peer reviewed journal article on domestic and family violence risk assessments for homelessness organisations. Mandy is the most recent past General Manager of Family Emergency Accommodation Townsville and is the current Learning & Development Practice Lead for Homelessness Queensland.
